EPA Toxics Release Inventory National Analysis

Description

This resource provides access to data from the EPA Toxics Release Inventory, which provide self reported information on toxic chemical releases and pollution prevention activities from industrial and federal facilities. There are several types of information provided by the resource, including tools for tracking releases over time, exploring individual facility releases, summaries across sectors and locations, health impacts from TRI releases, and databases of chemical releases.

  2. What is the trend in TRI releases for specific source categories for my city?

How do I use this resource?

Several tools were not working as of January 2026. The Mapping TRI (accessed at the bottom row of the tiles) is functioning and can be used to examine information on TRI releases in different states and communities. You can click on any state to open a summary. In the summary, there will be an embedded map with county information. You can zoom in further and get zip code level information, and further to get specific facility information. At the bottom of the state and county reports, there are buttons to click to download the TRI data.

Pro tips

Note that the National Analysis data visualization dashboard does not appear to be functioning. However, the Mapping TRI tool, accessed is still functional.
