Topic: Program evaluation

Resource

The Framework for Evaluating Damages and Impacts (FrEDI) is a peer-reviewed, open-source, reduced complexity model that draws on peer-reviewed information to rapidly project the annual impacts of climate change within the United States, through the 21st century, under any custom temperature trajectory.

Resource

A example of a logic model and blank logic model template provided by the US EPA used to provide the roadmap of a project. From the document: "Logic models are useful tools for defining the educational and environmental outputs and outcomes that are planned to accomplish the goals and objectives of the project. A logic model is a visual presentation of the relationships between your work and your desired results. It communicates the performance story of your project, focusing attention on the most important connections between your actions and the results. A logic model can serve as a basic road map for the project, explaining where you are and where you hope to end up."

Resource

R package that provides 1) machine learning to predict air pollution under average weather conditions, 2) a method to quantify the impact of air quality policies on air pollution. It includes functions for data collection and preparation, model building, performance evaluation, and causal impact analysis.

Resource

Report describing a methodology for designing and implementing assessments of interventions to improve air quality. Includes an analysis of case studies, identification of needs, and recommendations for conducting an assessment.

Resource

Online course providing training of planning and evaluation. While focused on education and outreach programs, the broad principles of evaluation can be applied to air quality programs as well. The course provides training on logic models and how to use them for program evaluation.

Resource

Guide providing information on evaluating heart disease and stroke prevention activities within states. While focused on these activities, the guide provides more general approaches for evaluating a wide range of programs.

Resource

Journal article describing a case study ex ante evaluation of the potential air quality and public health benefits of NYC 80×50 GHG reduction strategy.

Resource

Set of curated resources to build understanding of evaluation—what it is, why it is important, and how it can help Federal agencies execute their missions more effectively—among Federal agency staff at all levels. Importantly, this Toolkit is not a "how to" on conducting evaluation. Instead, it offers curated tools, reports, and templates to help Federal staff who work with evaluators, see the need for evaluation but don't know where to start, or want to use evaluation findings to inform their decisions.

Resource

Report providing information on how to develop a program logic model. Format is a PDF of a slide deck. Goal of the report is to describe the function of a logic model, identify key components, walk through developing a logic model, and describe how it can be used for evaluation planning.
