Sources vary depending on the jurisdiction of the regulatory body overseeing a project, whether it's at the local, state, or federal level. Data is obtained from oil and gas industry press releases, statements and documents made available by the companies themselves, news reports, and public datasets hosted by the U.S. Energy Information Administration and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Research from other nonprofit and community organizations is also used.
