Description
Giovanni is an online (Web) environment for the display and analysis of geophysical parameters in which the provenance (data lineage) can easily be accessed. It includes a number of different atmospheric measurements such as aerosols, aerosol optical depth, black carbon, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, and sulfur dioxide, as well as weather variables such as temperature, humidity, and wind.

How do I use this resource?
This resource allows users to plot time averaged data for a wide range of parameters. To view more than four timesteps, you have to create a login ID. Data can also be directly downloaded in netCDF format. This is complex data, and it is recommended to reference the available user guide for more information. The basic steps are to identify measurements of interest using the accordion style filters on the left of the page, select a type of plot (top left), select a date range, and select a region. Once you have done so, select “plot data” at the bottom right. If you want to download the data, you will need to have a login ID. The data sources include remote sensing, modeling, and reanalysis of remote sensing data.
