Sector: Waste management
Mapping tool to view regulated facilities, including for Title V permits, minor permits, and area sources.
Climate TRACE is a global emissions tracking initiative and online platform that uses satellite observations, remote sensing, and other independent data—combined with AI and machine learning—to estimate greenhouse gas emissions from specific countries, sectors, and large facilities in near real time. It provides publicly accessible maps, dashboards, and downloadable data that let users see where emissions are coming from, how they change over time, and how reported inventories compare to independent estimates, supporting greater transparency and accountability in climate action.
EPA’s Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) modeling system is an open-source, regional air quality model used to simulate how pollutants such as ozone, PM2.5, and air toxics form and move in the atmosphere. It combines detailed atmospheric chemistry, emissions, and meteorology to estimate pollutant concentrations and deposition over time and space. The CMAQ website provides the model code, documentation, tutorials, input datasets, and example applications, supporting researchers and agencies in evaluating air quality policies, health and ecosystem impacts, and interactions between air quality and climate.
EPA’s greenhouse gas data portal at ghgdata.epa.gov (the FLIGHT tool) is an interactive website that lets users explore facility-level greenhouse gas emissions reported under EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program. It provides maps, tables, and charts showing emissions by facility, industry sector, gas, location, and year, and allows filtering by state or county, source category, emission thresholds, and gas type. Users—such as policymakers, researchers, advocates, and companies—can quickly identify major emitters, compare facilities, examine trends over time, and download customized datasets for further analysis.
Website providing information on state, Tribal, and federal implementation plans. Information included on approved state regulations, source specific requirements, and nonregulatory provisions.
Website providing downloads of two databases: a control measures reference library which provides information on control technologies for a variety of source categories, and a menu of control measures which provides information on existing emission reduction measures including efficiency and cost-effectiveness for large point sources and some nonpoint sources.
Provides six case studies of strategies for air pollution management from cities around the world, including New York City, NY; Barranquilla, Columbia; Accra, Ghana; Kampala, Uganda; Jakarta, Indonesia; and Beijing, China. The New York case study focused on enhanced local air quality monitoring to address specific causes of local poor air quality.
Example of an ordinance regulating the construction and expansion of facilities that create air pollution. Provides information on the process, requirements and regulations, and zoning requirements.
This is the text of the Linn County Iowa air quality ordinances. It provides extensive language on control of air pollution sources through rules and permits.
Website providing access to tools and resources related to Best Available Control Technologies to reduce emissions of criteria pollutants and air toxics.
