Description

Mapping tool that provides information on permitted facilities in New Jersey. The tool provides information on the reported emissions for each major and minor source, as well as current information on PM and ozone monitored air quality, and community vulnerability information.

Questions this resource can help answer

  1. What are the emissions from permitted major and minor sources in my city?
  2. What sources are upwind from my location?
  3. How many permitted sources are within 1km of my location?

How do I use this resource?

You can use this tool to identify individual sources and obtain a variety of data, including permit status, recent emissions for criteria pollutants, air toxics, and GHG, and enforcement data. The tool also allows you to plot wind speed and direction, which can be helpful in attributing specific air quality observations to upwind sources. There is also the ability to map community vulnerability by selecting the "map layers" icon in the upper right of the map. There are also features accessible through the icons in the top right that allow searching for specific facilities by name, as well as locating facilities within a specified radius of a location.

Pro tips

There is a really helpful interactive user guide that can be accessed through a link at the bottom of the introductory text on the right side of the map.

To see a table with data on identified facilities, click on the up arrow in the black tab at the bottom of the map. You can export data from this table using the "actions" icon at the top right of the table.
